SAATI was founded circa 1977 and is a non-profit organisation. SAATI began as a support service for inexperienced teachers of Italian, to help them share resources and communicate about the language. It continues to offer these support services through conferences, workshops, professional development sessions, resources and references.
SAATI is the only voice for Italian teachers across all sectors in South Australia. It provides its members with a link between all educational sectors, keeps Italian teachers informed about initiatives and organises ongoing professional development and support in the Italian language. It works collaboratively with the Modern Language Teachers Association (MLTASA).
