David Horsell

David Horsell

CEASA Vice-President

Project Officer, Learning Difficulties Support Team, ECD Special Education

David has had over 30 years experience in a range of leadership and teaching positions in school, district and system level contexts.  After initial training focused on teaching secondary technology studies he accepted an appointment as part of a special school recruitment project. During this time he was a school leader in federally funded learning technologies program for special schools. This led to 10 years coordinating the inclusive learning technologies service at the Special Education Resource Unit (SERU).  A return to classroom based leadership then included several years as a ECD Learning Technologies ICT Coach.  His work in complex and varied settings has focused on the learning of students from R-12, often at risk through factors including disability and isolation, in face-to-face and blended online settings.  A clear understanding of the complexities associated with a broad range of contexts has underpinned his inclusive, learner-centred approach to teaching across the curriculum with a particular focus on Maths, Science and IT. He has come to the CEASA Committee with over 15 years experience as state management committee member and professional learning leader in the Computers in Education Group of South Australia (CEGSA).
