Whole Child Education

The Whole Person

CEASA takes a whole person approach to education.

We believe that in order to prepare children and young people to live productive and fulfilling lives that CEASA and its member associations need to support educators to take a whole child approach to education. Through this approach we can support educators to develop and prepare children and students for the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow.

Every school, community, classroom, educator, student, and family has unique challenges and strengths, and has a role to play in ensuring that each student is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. Collectively CEASA and its member associations have the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet these challenges and share these strengths.

Whole Child Tenets

  • Each child/student learns about and practices leading an active and healthy life
  • Each child/student learns in an intellectually challenging environment that is physically and emotionally safe and supportive
  • Each child/student is actively engaged in learning and is connected to the preschool/school and the broader community
  • Each child/student has access to personalised learning and is supported by qualified, caring adults
  • Each child/student is challenged academically and prepares for further study and success in their future life

CEASA proposes a broader definition of achievement and accountability that promotes the development of children and young people who are healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.

If you've got a story about the efforts in your school and community, please share it with us.

The Whole Teacher

Every teacher, in each school, in each of our communities deserves to be healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. They need to be supported with a ‘whole educator’ approach including individual professional learning opportunities and support for teachers in situations of disadvantage.
