| About Us |
The GTASA was founded in 1936 and has remained a strong and thriving group ever since. We have a solid membership who access a range of benefits. These include a journal issued three times a year with current research. Lesson ideas and resources tailored to the membership. In addition we run Professional development sessions on various topics including using GIS in the classroom, interpreting census data and teaching particular year levels. Once a year we have a conference over two days where workshops, key note speakers an fieldwork keep our members at the cutting edge of geography teaching. Our association is also affiliated with the Australian Geography Teachers Association and we benefit from a strong national presence and can attend National events like the biennial conference and receive the peer reviewed journal “Geographical Education”. Fundamentally we are geography teachers helping and supporting other geography teachers to engage students and develop their curiosity about the world they live in.
