VAESA is the professional association of Visual Arts educators in South Australia who are committed to the growth and development of the visual arts through scholarly exploration  and promotion of best practice in art education in R – 12, tertiary sectors and educational cultural institutions.

• VAESA includes educators from K – 12 and tertiary educators. It was founded in October 2010 in response to a request by DECS for a need for a professional association for Visual Arts to be reformed in order for interstate representatives to have a point of contact for SA feedback for the ACARA Shape Paper. Its purpose is to advocate for Arts Educators in SA both in SA and nationally. This includes contributing to state and national curriculum development; facilitating training and development opportunities for members, including guest speakers, workshops, symposia, and conferences; providing opportunities for networking and social functions; providing opportunities for presenting exhibitions of the work of members and their students.
• Benefits of joining are: receive a regular newsletter with updates of what’s happening in Visual Arts education in SA and in VAESA; discount for conferences; eligibility to exhibit in VAESA exhibitions for teachers and student; affiliation with national Arts Associations and updates of curriculum developments interstate and in ACARA; invitations to VAESA sponsored events eg exhibition openings, teacher briefings; teacher workshops.
