Leadership
“Strong leadership is essential to model and promote quality teaching to impact positively on student learning” Vivianne Robinson.
Are you an Emerging or Aspiring Leader?
As an inspiring, emerging or beginning leader there is plenty for you to learn. For example:
- Do you understand how your values as a leader affect how you lead and influence others?
- Do you know how to work to develop a collaborative learning culture, where you and others work together to achieve a common target of improved student results?
- Do you know how to provide opportunities for innovation, for accountability, for advocacy?
- Do you know how to work on your vision and plan strategically, solve problems, and think systematically and reflectively?
Practise and improve your skills, knowledge and capabilities by driving an initiative in your school, by participating in leadership learning programs with others, by becoming part of a network of emerging leaders, and by finding a mentor with whom you can build a strong and developing relationship though your leadership journey.
The Australian Council of Educational Leaders (SA) will support you in achieving your goal. The association's mission is “inspiring educational leaders”.
ACEL can support you in a number of ways:
- The SA annual program for Aspiring Leaders allows you to network with others and develop your capabilities
- The national program for Emerging Leaders will inspire, energise and motivate through a two day, highly interactive program
- The ACEL Leadership Capabilities Framework is an online learning resource
- A mentor can support you in developing a career path and guiding you through to your goal.
