||This project is FREE of charge to all students from Years 8 to 10. Entries may be from individuals, groups of at most five members, or from classes (which may involve six or more students). Are you interested in: • building the learning power of your students, • increasing their ability to use high-level thinking skills and… • helping them to apply what they have learned in new and increasingly complex situations. Involve your students (regardless of their levels of mathematical experience) in a cooperative and enjoyable investigation or project based around an area of interest, which may involve problem solving, conceptual development, relevance to their lives and interests and develop a deeper understanding of mathematics, its place in the world and across the curriculum. MASA has material available online that will enable teachers to start with a number of structured activities that lead to a range of open-ended activities. Students can then investigate an area of interest (either individually, in groups or as a class) and present their findings as a project. The best of these can be submitted to MASA for judging at Years 8, 9 and 10, with prizes awarded for the best projects.
