||Developing a thematic curriculum for PE using invasion games.
This is the second of four ACHPER SA one-day workshops focusing on thematic curriculum for Physical Education using the four game categories (Bunker and Thorpe, 1982). The second workshop in the series explores the Invasion Game category. A thematic approach for Physical Education is consistent with aspects of the AC: HPE Achievement Standards and the key ideas of a strengths based, educative focussed Physical Education curriculum promoting education in, through and about movement.
This workshop will address the concepts of: Principles of play; movement concepts, designing games for purpose; transfer of understanding; deliberate practice and deliberate play for invasion games; and the use of questioning as the educative architecture that can be used to construct a thematic curriculum for primary or secondary PE.
Experienced teachers will present on how they approach teaching Invations Games at their site.
This workshop will be led by:
Rick Baldock (ACHPER (SA))
Associate Professor Shane Pill (Flinders University)
and will feature sessions with other experienced teachers
